YOU WILL NOT FULFIL NEGATIVE PROPHECIES

TOPIC: YOU WILL NOT FULFIL NEGATIVE PROPHECIES

BY T. O. BANSO

“And he said to Jeroboam, ‘Take for yourself ten pieces, for thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Behold, I will tear the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon and will give ten tribes to you (but he shall have one tribe for the sake of My servant David, and for the sake of Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel)’” (1 Kings 11:31-33 New King James Version).

There are both positive and negative prophecies in the Bible. Some people fulfilled good prophecies while some fulfilled bad prophecies. Also, nowadays, some prophets and those who claim to be prophets give positive and negative prophecies. In the past, some people have fulfilled positive prophecies while others have fulfilled negative prophecies.

At the beginning of the year, all kinds of prophecies fill the air. Some are terrifying while others are edifying. It appears now that it has become mandatory for servants of God to announce their prophecies for their countries, and sometimes the world, at the dawn of a New Year. And almost every minister of God seems to be jumping on the bandwagon.

Trust some analysts, they will soon start comparing and contrasting the prophecies to suggest that the prophets are confusing. I don’t need to point out that they have already analyzed prophecies of the previous year or years that didn’t come to pass. They will do the same at the end of this year or the beginning of next year.

The Bible says not to despise prophecies but to test all things and hold fast what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:20-21). Also, 1 Corinthians 14:39 says brethren should desire earnestly to prophesy, and not forbid to speak with tongues. Prophets should not be gagged. Nevertheless, all things must be done decently and in order.

In the Old Testament, a guide is provided. Deuteronomy 18:21-22 says, “And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?’ — when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him” (New King James Version).

Ideally, the church should be able to regulate its operations and discourage false prophecies. But it appears the church doesn’t do so hence everyone keeps dishing out prophecies. It is worrisome that the police and the law will be used to control the excesses of some ‘prophets’ in an African country as regards New Year prophecies.

Prophecy is real but there are genuine and false prophets. Not all prophecies for the New Year are from God. Jesus warned, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles” (Matthew 7:15-16 New King James Version). My prayer for you is that you will not fulfil negative prophecies for the New Year, fake or genuine.

1 Kings 11:31-33 says, “And he said to Jeroboam, ‘Take for yourself ten pieces, for thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Behold, I will tear the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon and will give ten tribes to you (but he shall have one tribe for the sake of My servant David, and for the sake of Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel)’” (New King James Version).

The LORD gave the prophet Ahijah a positive prophecy to Jeroboam, which, at the same time, was a negative prophecy to Solomon. The LORD said He would tear the kingdom out of Solomon’s hand, because of his sin of idolatry, and give him only one tribe, because of David and Jerusalem.

However, in 1 Kings 11:11-12, He had also told Solomon He would not take the kingdom away while he was alive. He would take it away from his son. His son, who succeeded him, Rehoboam, ignorantly fulfilled this negative prophecy when he rejected a wise counsel to give an answer that would pacify the dissatisfied tribes of Israel. If he had been wise and had done what was right in the eyes of the LORD, the kingdom might not have been divided during his reign.

In Isaiah 7:14, the prophet Isaiah prophesied that a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son. Mary’s name is not mentioned there. However, the Lord chose her to fulfill that positive prophecy (Luke 1:26-38).

In John 13:18, Jesus told His disciples that the Scripture, “He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me”, must be fulfilled. He quoted from Psalm 41:9. But you won’t find Judas Iscariot written in that psalm. Nevertheless, he fulfilled that negative prophecy because of the love of money.

After he had committed suicide, the disciples had to choose someone to replace him. “For it is written in the Book of Psalms: ‘Let his dwelling place be desolate, and let no one live in it’; and, ‘Let another take his office’” (Acts 1:20 New King James Version). Two scriptures are combined in that verse: Psalm 69:25 and Psalm 109:8.

However, the two psalms never mentioned Judas Iscariot as the person who would betray Jesus and be replaced. All the same, He fulfilled negative prophecies. Repent of sinful or wrong attitudes and behaviour that can make you fulfill negative prophecies this New Year or any other time.

Sinners who refuse to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour are working towards fulfilling negative prophecies. Revelation 20:15 says whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. According to Revelation 21:8, the doom of sinners is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur.

Your name is not mentioned in these scriptures and similar ones! Neither is the name of sinners who will reject Jesus and end in hellfire written there. But by their choice, individuals will go heaven or hellfire. Don’t fulfill these negative prophecies of sinners going to hellfire. Give your life to Jesus today and continue to obey His Word.

You won’t fulfill negative prophecies – the ones in the Bible or the ones that may have been given or may be given by genuine prophets or fake prophets. Willingly obey the Lord. “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword’ For the mouth of the LORD has spoken” (Isaiah 1:19-20 New King James Version). You will fulfil positive prophecies, not negative prophecies.

TAKE ACTION!

If you are not born again, you need to give your life to Jesus now. I urge you to take the following steps: *Admit that you are a sinner and you cannot save yourself and repent of your sins. *Confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. *Renounce your past way of life – your relationship with the devil and his works. *Invite Jesus into your life. *As a mark of seriousness to mature in the faith, start attending a Bible-believing and Bible-teaching church. There they will teach you how to grow in the Kingdom of God.

Kindly say this prayer now: O Lord God, I come unto You today. I know I am a sinner and I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross to save me and resurrected the third day. I repent of my sins and confess Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I surrender my life to Jesus now and invite Him into my heart. By this prayer, I know I am saved. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me and making me a child of God.

I believe you have said this prayer from your heart. Congratulations! You will need to join a Bible-believing and Bible-teaching church in your area where they will teach you how to live your new life in Christ Jesus. I pray that you flourish like the palm tree and grow like the cedar of Lebanon. May you grow into Christ in all things and become all God wants you to be. I will be glad to hear from you. The Lord be with you.

PRAYER POINTS: I shall not fulfill negative prophecies. I shall fulfill positive prophecies in Jesus’ name. Father, silence all fake prophets in our nations. All evil prophecies are nullified in Jesus’ name.  Deliver those who are living in fear because of fake negative prophecies. Let all genuine positive prophecies be fulfilled. Father, cause the voices of all true prophets in our nations to be heard. Have mercy and let all conditional negative prophecies be cancelled.
