âI know that you can do anything, and no one can stop youâ (Job 42:2 NLT). The New International Version says it like this: âI know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.âÂ
This statement was the testimony of Job, after the LORD had, from Job 38; 39; 40:1-2, 6-24; 41:1-34, responded to everything that Job had said in the previous chapters, in reaction to his trials. His speech had prompted his three friends, Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar, to bring their perspectives on the reasons for the suffering of Job, which, largely, but wrongly, indicted Job. What a way to comfort a sorrowful person! God eventually rebuked them (Job 42:7-8).
It wasnât that Jobâs position and his reaction to his trials were absolutely right. Job 38:1-3 introduces Godâs response to Jobâs many complaints this way: âThen the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said: âWho is this who darkens counsel By words without knowledge? Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Meâ (NKJV). God used Job 38; 39; 40:3-24; and 41:1-34 to answer Jobâs complaints, asking him many questions that Job could not find answers to. By the time God finished, Job confessed that he had said too much and had expressed great ignorance.
In Job 40:4, Job admitted that he could never find answers to the questions God had put to him, and at the end of Godâs long response to all that Job had said, Job replied, âI know that you can do anything, and no one can stop youâ (Job 42:2a NLT).
Job said he knew God could do anything and no one could stop Him. Wonderful! Do you have that understanding too? Do you know that God can do anything and nobody can stop Him? Do you believe it? In your life and for you, do you know and believe that God can do anything and nobody can stop Him?
Such a belief is the fertile ground for miracles; those who doubt that God can do anything and no one can stop Him will become strangers to miracles. Those who believe that there are things Godâs power cannot do limit His power in their lives.
No impossibility with God!
In 2 Kings 7:1, Elisha, the man of God, had said to the king, âListen to this message from the Lord! This is what the Lord says: By this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, six quarts of choice flour will cost only one piece of silver, and twelve quarts of barley grain will cost only one piece of silverâ (NLT). However, there was this king’s officer who replied in unbelief, âThat couldnât happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!â (Verse 19a NLT).Â
Elisha replied, âYou will see it happen, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!â (Verse 19b). The day Elishaâs prophecy came to pass, the king appointed this same officer to control the traffic of people rushing to buy food at the gate, but he was knocked down and trampled to death by the people (2 Kings 7:17).
This man doubted the power of God to do anything without anyone stopping Him, and he didnât partake in the miracle. He died because the prophetâs word was not mixed with faith in his heart (Hebrews 4:2). He discredited the words of Godâs servant. What the prophet said sounded ridiculous and others might have expressed some doubts but they were careful not to confront Godâs servant.
Jesusâ disciples were wondering who would be saved, if as Jesus had said that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Jesus answered them, âWith men this is impossible, but with God all things are possibleâ (Matthew 19:26 NKJV). Donât relate to God as if youâre relating to man; donât relate to the Word of God as if itâs the word of a human being. What is impossible with man is possible with God. Whatever God says Heâll do, Heâll do it â no one can stop Him.
Romans 4:17 says, âThat is what the Scriptures mean when God told him, âI have made you the father of many nations.â This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothingâ (NLT). From this scripture, we understand two things:
(i)Â God can bring the dead back to life. That means when people say itâs finished, itâs too late, there is no more hope, etc., God can reverse it; He can return hope. God can bring the dead back to life.
He brought Jesus out of the grave after three days and three nights (Matthew 28:2-6; Acts 3:15; 4:10, 13:30, 17:31; Ephesians 1:20). The power of death could not hold him captive. God didnât allow his body to see corruption; He didn’t allow His body to rot in the grave (Psalm 16:10; Acts 2:27; 13:35).
Lazarus (John 11:43-44), Jairusâ daughter (Mark 5:22-23, 38-43), and the son of the widow of Nain (Luke 7:11-17) were all brought back to life after death. God brought other dead people back to life in the Bible and has brought others back to life in our contemporary world. Job said, âIf he snatches someone in death, who can stop him? Who dares to ask, âWhat are you doing?ââ (Job 9:12 NLT).
Nevertheless, if He also brings the dead back to life, who can stop Him? God can bring back to life dead destinies, businesses, wombs, organs, marriages, etc. Jesus is the resurrection and the life (John 11:25).
Abrahamâs body was dead and Sarahâs womb was dead and God brought them back to life. Whatever is dead in your life, today I decree that it shall be brought back to life in Jesusâ name. I decree that the life of God shall invade anything that Satan has killed in your life in Jesus’ name. I command dead business, dead relationships, dead organs, and dead destinies to come back to life in Jesusâ name.
Romans 4:19 says, âAnd Abrahamâs faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as deadâand so was Sarahâs wombâ (NLT). Is there something that you think youâre already disqualified for because of your age â you are too old to get this, to do this, to achieve this, etc? Too old! Donât forget that our anchor scripture says, âI know that you can do anything, and no one can stop youâ (Job 42:2 NLT). Are you a believer like Abraham or a doubter like that Kingâs officer in 2 Kings 7?
Men may say youâre too old to have a child, get a husband or a wife, get a job, and so forth but God can do anything. When He does it for you no one can stop Him. Receive your miracle now in Jesusâ name. Miracles that will rubbish the sayings and beliefs of people, the LORD, who no one can stop, shall do them for you. Isaiah 44:25-28 describes Him as the one âWho frustrates the signs of the babblers, and drives diviners mad; Who turns wise men backward, and makes their knowledge foolishness;Â Who confirms the word of His servant, and performs the counsel of His messengers; Who says to Jerusalem, ‘You shall be inhabited,’ To the cities of Judah, ‘You shall be built,’ and I will raise up her waste places; Who says to the deep, ‘Be dry! And I will dry up your rivers’;Â Who says of Cyrus, âHe is My shepherd, and he shall perform all My pleasure, saying to Jerusalem, You shall be built,â And to the temple, âYour foundation shall be laidââ(NKJV). The unstoppable God shall visit you this season like he visited Abraham and Sarah in Jesusâ name.
In Genesis 17:16, when God told Abraham that Sarah would give birth to a son, would become a mother of nations and kings of peoples would be from her, Abraham laughed in her heart, and said, âShall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?â (Verse 17b NKJV). Abraham considered it a joke and pleaded with God that Ishmael might live before him because Abraham and Sarah had waited for a long time for God to fulfill His promise of giving them a child. But the unstoppable God insisted that Sarah shall surely have a Son.
Not even menopause can stop God when He wants to give a woman a child. Menopause shall bow to the name of Jesus. Pause does not only mean a stop; it also means a break, temporary halt, or suspension. What is paused can be continued! God can cause the music of reproduction that has been stopped or paused to start playing again!
So God said to Abraham, âNo, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after himâ (Genesis 17:19 NKJV). What are the promises of God to you or prophecies that have become a joke to you? That promise shall soon come to pass. God is not a comedian. That Word shall be fulfilled in your life; you shall testify because God can do anything that is consistent with His character and no one can stop him. Whatever good music in your life has been paused or stopped shall start playing again in Jesusâ name.
It wasnât only Abraham that laughed at the promise of God to give him and his wife a child in their old age, Sarah also laughed on another occasion when the LORD through the three angels that stopped over at his tent and he entertained said, The LORD said, âI will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a sonâ (Genesis 18:10 NKJV). But verse 12 says, âTherefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, âAfter I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?ââ (NKJV)
Wondering why Sarah should laugh at this promise of a child because of her old age, the LORD said to Abraham, âIs anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a sonâ (Genesis 18:14 NKJV). I ask you: Is there anything too hard or difficult for God to do in your life? In other words, is there any impossibility with God? Jesus has helped us to answer that question in Matthew 19:26 â with God everything is possible. Science can say itâs impossible; medicine can say it is impossible; the law can say itâs impossible. But when God says He wants to do it and itâs time for it, nothing can stop Him. I decree whatever is on the timetable of God for your life this season shall become a reality in Jesusâ name. There shall be no delay.
Genesis 18:15 says, âBut Sarah denied it, saying, âI did not laugh,â for she was afraidâ (NKJV). Did you see that? She lied. Stop lying. She didnât know she was dealing with God but not ordinary human beings who ate her food. She laughed but she lied about it.
But whether she believed or not the âridiculousâ word of God, the unstoppable God had spoken and His Word must come to pass. Nothing can stop His counsel. Genesis 21:1 says the LORD visited Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did for Sarah as He had spoken. He is unstoppable â not even the laughter of Abraham plus the laughter of Sarah could stop him. Rather, he created laughter for Sarah! âAnd Sarah said, âGod has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me.â She also said, âWho would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old ageââ (Genesis 21:6-7 NKJV). Sarah laughed but she denied it. Nevertheless, God went ahead to create undeniable laughter for her.
This season, the LORD shall make you laugh. The LORD shall bring you real laughter. He will create laughter for you. It may appear as if your season has passed but Daniel 2:21 says God changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings. God will bring you another season â another season of joy, celebration, promotion, open doors, prosperity, and so forth in Jesusâ name.
(ii)Â Â God can bring into existence what didn’t exist before. In other words, God can create what does not exist. God can perform creative miracles. Isaiah 43:19 says, âBehold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desertâ (NKJV). That was exactly what God did for the children of Israel as He led them from Egypt to the Promised Land. Just as He has the power to bring the dead back to life, he can create what never existed before. Put your trust in Him.
Jeremiah prayed to the LORD, âAh, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for Youâ (Jer 32:19 NKJV). And in verse 27, the LORD said to Jeremiah, âBehold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?â (NKJV) Nothing is too difficult for the Lord so nothing can stop Him from achieving what He has promised to do.
ââLetâs go across to the outpost of those pagans,â Jonathan said to his armor bearer. âPerhaps the Lord will help us, for nothing can hinder the Lord. He can win a battle whether he has many warriors or only a few!ââ (1 Samuel 14:6 NLT). The LORD gave victory that day to Israel through Jonathan and his armour bearer. Romans 8:31 says, âWhat shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?â (NLT)
Whatever you believe God for, even if it doesnât exist before, God can create it. God can create a womb, a vacancy, an organ, etc. where there is none.
He revealed himself to Moses as the âI AM WHO I AMâ (Exodus 3:14 NKJV). which, as presented in other Bible translations, means The sovereign God, I AM BECAUSE I AM, I will become whatsoever I please, or I-will-be-what-I-will-be. He is the self-existent and self-sufficient God.
Why God is unstoppable
1. Because He is the only God. There is only one God, and He is! All other pretenders are gods! Isaiah 43:12b-13 says, ââYou are witnesses that I am the only God,â says the LORD. âFrom eternity to eternity I am God. No one can oppose what I do. No one can reverse my actionsââ (NLT). In Isaiah 45:14 (NLT) and 1 Timothy 1:17 (ASV), God is also referred to as the only God. Jesus also called God the only God (John 5:44). God is the only God who can do what only God can do!
2. Because God created everything and everything is under His control. God was before the beginning began! In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth and spoke everything He created into existence (Genesis 1; Revelation 10:6; Ephesians 3:9). God created all things, and for His pleasure, they are and were created (Revelation 4:11). âBy faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visibleâ (Hebrews 11:3 NKJV). God created everything, and everything is under His control. He has not lost control over His creation!
3. Because He is all-powerful. That means He is omnipotent. Godâs power is unlimited. No power is above the power of God so He can do and undo! Even Satan is subject to His power (Luke 10:17). Actually, Satan was his employee before He fired him! (Isaiah 14:12-15) Elihu, one of Jobâs friends, said, âLook, God is all-powerful. Who is a teacher like him?â (Job 36:22 NLT).
Nebuchadnezzar, after God humbled him with seven seasons in the forest like an animal, said of God, âNo one can stop him or challenge him, saying, âWhat do you mean by doing these things?ââ (Daniel 4:35 NLT). Nobody can restrain God when He decides to do something. He does whatever He wants to do without any hindrance. Whoever doesnât want Him to rule He overrules!
When Abram was ninety-nine years old, God introduced Himself to him as the Almighty God (Genesis 17:1). He can do anything. He made a 90-year-old woman, Sarah, and a 100-year-old man, Abraham, have a child without any assisted reproductive technology! (Genesis 17:17; 21:5; Hebrews 11:11).
God is all-powerful. His creative power has not diminished or expired! He created all creatures and set limitations for everyone and everything. Human beings have limitations â they can fall sick, grow weary, die, etc. However, the All-powerful doesnât have these limitations. He is the King eternal, immortal, invisible (1 Timothy 1:17).
The devil is limited too as weâve seen. He even needed Godâs permission to attack Job and couldnât kill him because He couldnât secure Godâs permission to do that (Job 1:9-12; 2:3-6). God can stop anyone but no one can stop God.
Zophar the Naamathite, one of Jobâs friends, replied to Job: âIf God comes and puts a person in prison or calls the court to order, who can stop him?â (Job 11:10 NLT). God can do anything but He wonât do anything that is inconsistent with His character! He is sovereign but not arbitrary!
4. Because God is all-knowing. God is all-knowing, all-wise. 1 John 3:20b says God knows all things. That means He is omniscient. God is unstoppable because He knows everything; He doesnât find out! If He asks you a question, itâs not because He doesnât know the answer. Before God called to Adam, âWhere are you?â (Genesis 3:9), He already knew where Adam and Eve were physically and spiritually.
God is all-knowing. He knows your plans, fears, troubles, weaknesses, failures, etc. Psalm 94:11 says, âThe LORD knows the thoughts of man, that they are futileâ (NKJV). It is the Word of God and the Spirit of God that can deliver one from futile thoughts so that oneâs thoughts will not be different from His (Isaiah 55:8).
God knows what the devil is planning even before he thinks about it, and knows how itâs going to end before he carries it out. That is why, any day, the devil is no match for God!
Unlike God, Satan does not know everything; he is not omniscient. That is why the Bible says, âBut the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord.â (1 Corinthians 2:8 NLT). If the devil were all-knowing, he wouldnât have killed Jesus. He shot himself in the foot by orchestrating his death. God knows what the devil is thinking but the Bible says, âFor who can know the Lordâs thoughts? Who knows enough to give him advice?â (Romans 11:34 NLT) Nobody can except He tells someone.
God finishes something before He starts carrying it out, and thatâs the time the devil is just being aware of it! Shouldnât that gladden your heart that Satan has lost? God is unstoppable! He says in Isaiah 46:10, âOnly I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wishâ (NLT).
5. Because God is all-present. He is Omnipresent â He is everywhere at the same time. Satan can only go to and fro on the earth, walking up and down (Job 1:7, 2:2) and working through demons and human agents. But God sits in one place and sees everywhere at the same time â only His eyes range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him (2 Chronicles 16:9). Hallelujah! God presides over the whole world. He is the God of the whole earth (Isaiah 54:5b). He is also the judge of the earth (Genesis 18:25). He is present everywhere and knows whatâs going on.
Conclusion: Pharaoh couldnât stop God from bringing the Israelites out of 430 years of bondage in Egypt. Pharaoh had told Moses, âWho is the LORD, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, nor will I let Israel goâ (Exodus 5:2 NKJV). However, when God was ready to bring the Israelites out, Pharaoh couldnât stop Him. God brought them out with a strong hand and powerful arm (Psalm 136:11-12).
God is unstoppable! Put your faith in Him and youâll see the mighty hand of God in your life, even in cases that appear hopeless. With this unstoppable God, all things are possible. He can bring the dead back to life and He can create what doesnât even exist. Hallelujah!
