TOPIC: GOD WILL MAKE A WAY
BY T. O. BANSO
âBehold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desertâ (Isaiah 43:19 English Standard Version).
God will make a way where there seems to be no way. He will make a way when there seems to be no way. All the children of God must understand this and have faith in God to make a way for them when they are in difficult situations and it appears there is no way out. God will make a way and not allow them to be stranded. Therefore, they should not be anxious or lose faith in God as Satan wants them to do.
One story in the Bible that illustrates the truth that God will make a way where and when there seems to be no way was the deliverance of the children of Israel when they got to the Red Sea after their release from Egypt by Pharaoh. Pharaoh changed his mind after allowing the Israelites to go and pursued them. The Israelites were between the devil and the deep blue sea. They were near the Red Sea, which they couldnât cross, while Pharaohâs army was closing in on them. It was either they marched into the Red Sea and committed mass suicide or they waited for Pharaohâs army to catch up with them and take them back to Egypt.
Exodus 14:10-12 says, âAnd when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the LORD. Then they said to Moses, âBecause there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? Â Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, âLet us alone that we may serve the Egyptians?â For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wildernessâ (New King James Version).
The situation they were in was better imagined than experienced. Moses tried to calm them down and assured them that God would fight for them and the Egyptians they saw that day, they wouldnât see again. Apparently, Moses also cried to God because God asked him why he cried to Him. He told Moses to tell the Israelites to go forward. If God had not spoken this to Moses, asking the Israelites to go forward would have amounted to asking them to commit suicide because the only way forward was to plunge into the Red Sea!
However, God told Moses to lift up his rod, stretch out his hand over the sea and divide it, and the Israelites would go on dry ground through the sea. Moses obeyed and the Way Maker made a way for them in the sea. He made a way where and when there was no way. He caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night. This made the sea into dry land and the waters were divided. The Israelites went into the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. God had hardened the heart of Pharaoh so Pharaoh’s horses and horsemen pursued them into the sea.
When God told Moses again to stretch out his hand over the sea and he did, the water came back upon the Egyptians and they perished in the sea while the Israelites walked on dry land in the sea. God saved the Israelites that day by making a way for them where and when there seemed to be no way. Isaiah 43:16 describes God as He who makes a way in the sea and a path through the mighty waters. Isaiah 51:10 says, âAre You not the One who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep; That made the depths of the sea a road For the redeemed to cross over?â (New King James Version).
If today you are standing between Pharaoh and the Red Sea, trust God to make a way for you. Donât be anxious. Philippians 4:6-7 says you should not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. The God who made a way for the Israelites will make a way for you. He will never leave you or forsake you.
He says, âWhen you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch youâ (Isaiah 43:2 New King James Version). God is with you and will make a way for you.
The same God who dried up the Red Sea for the Israelites to walk on dry land also parted River Jordan for them to cross over on the dry ground (Joshua 3:14-17). The same God gave the Israelites water from the rock twice when they lacked water in the wilderness to drink and give their animals (Exodus 17:5-6; Numbers 20:8-11; Deuteronomy 8:15; Psalm 78:15-16, 20; Isaiah 48:21; Psalm 105:41). This God also fed the Israelites miraculously with manna in the wilderness throughout their journey to the Promised Land (Exodus 16).
Nehemiah 9:20-21 says, âYou also gave Your good Spirit to instruct them, and did not withhold Your manna from their mouth, and gave them water for their thirst. Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness, They lacked nothing; their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swellâ (New King James Version).
God is the Way Maker. He can make a way where and when there seems to be no way. âBehold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desertâ (Isaiah 43:19 English Standard Version). Note the phrase âI will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.â God can create what does not exist. He can make a way where it doesn’t exist.
The water of Marah was bitter and the Israelites couldnât drink it as thirsty as they were. They found this water after they had gone three days in the wilderness and found no water. You know how indispensable water is to man. It is essential for most body functions.  âAnd the people complained against Moses, saying, âWhat shall we drink?â So he cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a tree. When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweetâ (Exodus 15:24-25a New King James Version). In case you are having a Marah experience in life, God will heal you and make your life sweet.
No matter the situation you are facing, donât lose hope. Trust in God. What is impossible for man is possible for God (Luke 18:27). With God nothing will be impossible (Luke 1:37). With God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26; Mark 10:27). God says in Isaiah 41:18, âI will open rivers in desolate heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of waterâ (New King James Version).
After a roundabout march of seven days by the kings of Israel, Judah, and Edom, there was no more water for the army, themselves, or their animals (2 Kings 3:9). After the Prophet Elisha decided to intervene in their situation because of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, he said, âYou shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drinkâ (verse 17 New King James Version).
Verse 20 says in the morning when the grain offering was offered, suddenly water came by way of Edom, and the land was filled with water. God works in mysterious ways! Â The Moabites mistook the water, which the sun was shining on, and looked red like blood, as the blood of the three kings who, supposedly, had killed each other. They moved to the camp of Israel and the Israelites killed them, destroyed the towns, covered their good land with stones, stopped up all the springs, and cut down all the good trees.
You may not see a way out of your situation but God can make a way. His ways are not always your way but He will make a way (Isaiah 55:8). Have faith in Him. By faith, Abraham obeyed God and wanted to sacrifice Isaac concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead. And speaking figuratively, he received Isaac back from death (Hebrews 11:19). God will make a way for you.
During the tempest on the sea on Paulâs journey to Rome, he said, âNow when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small tempest beat on us, all hope that we would be saved was finally given upâ (Acts 27:20 New King James Version). However, God made a way for him and those on the ship.
He said an angel of the God to whom he belonged and whom he served stood by him that night telling him not to be afraid, as he must be brought before Caesar and God had granted him all those who sailed with him. Thus, Paul, with the other two hundred and seventy-five persons on the ship, was saved. God made a way for them to escape.
God will make a way for you where and when there seems to be no way. Have faith in Him. Call upon Him. He will answer you. He will make a way for you even when there seems to be none.
TAKE ACTION!
If you are not born again, you need to give your life to Jesus now. I urge you to take the following steps: *Admit that you are a sinner and you cannot save yourself and repent of your sins. *Confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. *Renounce your past way of life â your relationship with the devil and his works. *Invite Jesus into your life. *As a mark of seriousness to mature in the faith, start attending a Bible-believing and Bible-teaching church. There they will teach you how to grow in the Kingdom of God.
Kindly say this prayer now: O Lord God, I come unto You today. I know I am a sinner and I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross to save me and God raised Him on the third day. I repent of my sins and confess Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I surrender my life to Jesus now and invite Him into my heart. By this prayer, I know I am saved. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me and making me a child of God.
I believe you have said this prayer from your heart. Congratulations! You will need to join a Bible-believing and Bible-teaching church in your area where they will teach you how to live your new life in Christ Jesus. I pray that you flourish like a palm tree and grow like a cedar of Lebanon. May you grow into Christ in all things and become all God wants you to be. I will be glad to hear from you. The Lord be with you.
PRAYER POINTS: Father, I believe in You to make a way for me where and when there seems to be no way. According to Your Word, do a new thing in my life; let it springs forth; make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Make a way for me in my present situation. Thank you, Father, as You do.
