“Then they cast lots, and Mathias was selected to become an apostle with the other eleven” (Acts 1:26 New Living Translation).

I don’t know what your expectations are currently and what you’ve been told, but God can create a vacancy for you even when it seems impossible. I remember a prayer meeting we had and someone in the prayer meeting asked that we pray for a job for him. He added that he was late for the job search, because the season for recruitment for the type of employment he wanted had passed.

I said we should pray that God should create a vacancy for him. He might be late, but God is never late. He was surprised how God answered his prayer. He told a friend who had visited him he needed a job. The friend then informed him of a vacancy in his place of work to be filled urgently, which he was qualified for. He had worked there before, and was eventually given the job after applying and being interviewed. God created a vacancy for him at a wrong time! God will create a vacancy for you, no matter what.

God created a vacancy for Esther, a Jew, to become the Queen of the Persian Empire in place of Vashti who had displeased the king and was removed (Esther 1, 2). Earlier in Egypt, God had created a vacancy for Joseph. He became the Prime Minister (Genesis 41:38-46).

David had been anointed king by Samuel and had opportunity twice of killing the incumbent king, Saul, who was bent on killing him. But David didn’t kill him (1 Samuel 24, 26). God created a vacancy for him eventually as Saul died in a battle (1 Samuel 31). David was actually anointed three times before he became the king of the entire nation of Israel (1 Samuel 16:12-13; 2 Samuel 2:4, 5:3-5).

Judas Iscariot committed suicide after betraying Jesus (Matthew 27:5). According to prophecy, he must be replaced (Acts 1:20; Psalm 69:25,109:8). Peter said, “Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection. And they proposed two: Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias” (Acts 1:21-23 New King James Version).

They prayed for God’s guidance to make the right choice. “Then they cast lots, and Mathias was selected to become an apostle with the other eleven” (Acts 1:26 New Living Translation).

Please take note that Mathias had been with Jesus from the beginning, but was not chosen as one of the twelve disciples. His time came when Judas didn’t keep his place. This may be your own time to fulfill the prophecy upon your life; it may be the time to experience answers to your long-time prayers. Daniel said God changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings (Daniel 2:21a).

This season, God will create a vacancy for you according to His will for your life.

If you are not born again, you need to give your life to Jesus now. I urge you to take the following steps: *Admit you are a sinner and you cannot save yourself and repent of your sins. *Confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. *Renounce your past way of life – your relationship with the devil and his works. *Invite Jesus into your life. *As a mark of seriousness to mature in the faith, start attending a Bible-believing and Bible-teaching church. There they will teach you how to grow in the Kingdom of God.

Kindly say this prayer now: O Lord God, I come unto you today. I know I am a sinner and I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross to save me and resurrected the third day. I repent of my sins and confess Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I surrender my life to Jesus now and invite Him into my heart. By this prayer, I know I am saved. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me and making me a child of God.

I believe you have said this prayer from your heart. Congratulations! You will need to join a Bible believing and Bible teaching church in your area where they will teach you how to live your new life in Christ Jesus. I pray that you flourish like the palm tree and grow like the cedar of Lebanon. May you grow into Christ in all things and become all God wants you to be. I will be glad to hear from you. The LORD be with you.

PRAYER POINT: Father, create a vacancy for me according to your will for my life.
