TOPIC: GOD IS EVER TRUE
BY T. O. BANSO
âGod is faithful [He is reliable, trustworthy and ever true to His promiseâHe can be depended on], and through Him you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lordâ (1 Corinthians 1:9 Amplified Bible).
One of the powerful truths we learn in the Bible is that God is true. And this is very important. If God is not true, it means all that is credited to Him in the Bible cannot be relied on. In other words, we cannot trust any of His promises. But God is ever true. Numbers 23:19 says, âGod is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?â (New King James Version). God is true and truthful. Proverbs 30:5a says, âEvery word of God is trueâ (New Century Version).
God is not man. He is not like some politicians who say what they donât mean or donât mean what they say. He is consistent, unlike politicians who condemn the policies of a government in power only to implement the same policies when they come to power. God is ever true. You can depend on Him at all times. He doesnât change.
God is ever true. There is no lie in Him. âI have many things to say and to judge concerning you, but He who sent Me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I heard from Himâ (John 8:26 New King James Version). Earlier in John 7:28, Jesus said, âYou both know Me, and you know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not knowâ (New King James Version).
These scriptures are Jesusâ testimony about His Father that He is true. Jesus also testifies in John 17:3 that God is true. He says, âAnd this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sentâ (New King James Version). Note the phrase âthe only true God.â The others are all fake gods. There is one God, and there is no other but He (Mark 12:32b). 1 Thessalonians 1:9 also refers to God as âthe living and true God.â
You should believe the testimony of Jesus about God the Father. He and the Father are one, as He says in John 10:30. He also refers to this in John 17:11, 22. Thus, both the Son and the Father are true. In Mark 12:14, the Pharisees and some of the Herodians, who were trying to trap Jesus in His talk, referred to Him as true, which is true, even though they had a wrong motive. Jesus is ever true. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Revelation 3:7a says, âAnd to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, âThese things says He who is holy, He who is trueââ (New King James Version).
God the Father and God the Son are true. God the Holy Spirit, who is a co-eternal and co-equal member of the Trinity, is also ever true. The Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of truth (John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13).
They are trustworthy. You can believe whatever they say. Paul says, âOf course not! Even if everyone else is a liar, God is trueâ (Romans 3:4a New Living Translation). He also says in 2 Corinthians 1:18, âNever! As surely as God is true, I am not that sort of person. My yes means yesâ (The Living Bible). God is true. Jesus says in John 3:33, âHe who has received His testimony has certified that God is trueâ (New King James Version).
God is ever true. The Apostle John says in 1 John 5:20, âAnd we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal lifeâ (New King James Version). Note the phrase âThis is the true God.â
God is ever true. Believe His Word. Hold on to His promises. God will do what His words say He will do or He will do what He has said in His Word that He will do. He doesnât change. âFor I am the LORD, I do not change; therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacobâ (Malachi 3:6 New King James Version). Deuteronomy 32:4b says, âGod is true and faithful. He is good and honestâ (Easy-to-Read Version). He is faithful (1 Thessalonians 5:24). âGod is faithful [He is reliable, trustworthy and ever true to His promiseâHe can be depended on], and through Him you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lordâ (1 Corinthians 1:9 Amplified Bible). His faithfulness continues through all generations (Palms 119:90a)
God is ever true. He can never be untrue. Paul asks in Romans 3:3, âWhat if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God’s faithfulness?â (New International Version). Answering the question in the next verse, he says, âNot at all! Let God be true, and every man a liarâ (verse 4a New International Version). 2 Timothy 2:13 says if we are faithless, He will remain faithful, for He cannot disown Himself.
Given the foregoing, put your trust in God. He can never fail. Believe His Word. His word is truth (Psalm 119:160). He will sanctify you by His Word, which is truth (John 17:17b). All His work is done in truth (Psalm 33:4b). When you know His truth, it shall make you free (John 8:32).
Donât doubt God. Believe Him and act upon His Word. He will do what He says He will do. âNot one of all the Lord’s good promises to the house of Israel failed; every one was fulfilledâ (Joshua 21:45 New International Version). God is watching over His word to fulfil it (Jeremiah 1:12). âYou are faithful to your promises, O my Godâ (Psalm 71:22b New Living Translation). God is ever true.
TAKE ACTION!
If you are not born again, you need to give your life to Jesus now. I urge you to take the following steps: *Admit that you are a sinner and you cannot save yourself and repent of your sins. *Confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. *Renounce your past way of life â your relationship with the devil and his works. *Invite Jesus into your life. *As a mark of seriousness to mature in the faith, start attending a Bible-believing and Bible-teaching church. There they will teach you how to grow in the Kingdom of God.
Kindly say this prayer now: O Lord God, I come unto You today. I know I am a sinner and I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross to save me and God raised Him on the third day. I repent of my sins and confess Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I surrender my life to Jesus now and invite Him into my heart. By this prayer, I know I am saved. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me and making me a child of God.
I believe you have said this prayer from your heart. Congratulations! You will need to join a Bible-believing and Bible-teaching church in your area where they will teach you how to live your new life in Christ Jesus. I pray that you flourish like a palm tree and grow like a cedar of Lebanon. May you grow into Christ in all things and become all God wants you to be. I will be glad to hear from you. The Lord be with you.
PRAYER POINTS: Father, I worship You whose faithfulness continues through all generations. Holy Spirit, help me to continually put my trust in God who is ever true, for He is not a man, that He should lie, or a son of man that He should repent. Father, I believe that You will do what You said You would do. Let all your good promises come to pass in my life.
