TOPIC: GOD CAN CREATE WHAT DOESN’T EXIST
BY T. O. BANSO
“The Scriptures say that Abraham would become the ancestor of many nations. This promise was made to Abraham because he had faith in God, who raises the dead to life and creates new things” (Romans 4:17 Contemporary English Version).
God can create new things out of nothing; He can create what does not exist. Isaiah 43:19 says, “Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” (New King James Version). That was exactly what God did for the children of Israel when He led them from Egypt to the Promised Land.
Just as He has the power to bring the dead back to life, He can create what never existed before. Put your trust in Him. The apostle Paul said, regarding what God told Abraham, “The Scriptures say that Abraham would become the ancestor of many nations. This promise was made to Abraham because he had faith in God, who raises the dead to life and creates new things” (Romans 4:17 Contemporary English Version).
The Good News Translation says, “As the scripture says, ‘I have made you father of many nations.’ So the promise is good in the sight of God, in whom Abraham believed—the God who brings the dead to life and whose command brings into being what did not exist.” God can call into existence things that don’t yet exist.
The book of Genesis says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters” (Genesis 1:1-2 New King James Version). God went ahead to create everything, starting with the light. He worked six days, finished everything, and rested on the seventh day.
God can create what does not currently exist. He can create a vacancy where even they’ve told someone there is none. He did it for a brother when all hope of getting a job was gone. Someone suddenly resigned at the time, and he was employed instead.
Jeremiah prayed to the LORD, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You” (Jeremiah 32:17 New King James Version). In verse 27, the LORD told Jeremiah, “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?” (New King James Version). Nothing is too difficult for the Lord; nothing can stop Him from achieving what He has promised to do.
There have been testimonies of creative miracles that people have experienced through the unstoppable power of God. For instance, those they said could not conceive because they had no womb, or their womb had been removed, have become pregnant and had babies through the power of God. It might not make sense medically, but the power of God can suspend natural laws. When God decides to create what doesn’t exist, nobody can stop Him. That’s not to minimise the work of medical doctors. They’re doing a great job. And many of them acknowledge that miracles do happen.
Abraham was 100 years old when Sarah, his 90-year-old wife, gave birth to her only child (Genesis 17:17). Sarah had reached menopause, but that didn’t stop God from making laughter for her. “Now Abraham was one hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. And Sarah said, ‘God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me’” (Genesis 21:5-6 New King James Version).
With God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). That’s why Sarah, who was past childbearing age, received the strength to conceive. “By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised” (Hebrews 11:11 New King James Version). Miracles still happen today.
God can create whatever you believe Him for, which is His will for you. God can create a womb, a vacancy, an organ, etc., where there is none. Jesus performed many miracles, including raising the dead and opening the eyes of the blind. One of them was a man who was born blind. Jesus gave him sight (John 9:1-41). Miracles still happen today.
Twice, God brought water out of the rock for the Israelites in the wilderness (Exodus 17:5-7; Numbers 20:7-11). He caused manna to fall from heaven and fed them throughout their journey in the wilderness (Exodus 16:11-35). He sent quails into their camp for them to eat meat, following their complaint (Numbers 11:31-34; Psalm 105:40).
Psalm 78:23-28 sums up God’s miraculous provisions for the Israelites this way: “Yet He had commanded the clouds above, and opened the doors of heaven, had rained down manna on them to eat, and given them of the bread of heaven. Men ate angels’ food; He sent them food to the full. He caused an east wind to blow in the heavens; and by His power He brought in the south wind. He also rained meat on them like the dust, feathered fowl like the sand of the seas; and He let them fall in the midst of their camp, all around their dwellings” (New King James Version).
In 2 Kings 3, the king of Israel went with the kings of Judah and Edom to fight the king of Moab. They marched on a roundabout route for seven days, and there was no water for the army and the animals that followed them. The king of Israel concluded that the LORD had called the three kings together to deliver them into the hands of Moab.
Nevertheless, at the instance of the king of Judah, Jehoshaphat, the Prophet Elisha was consulted, and he only intervened because of the regard he had for Jehoshaphat, who was a good king. Elisha said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Make this valley full of ditches.’ For thus says the Lord: ‘You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.’ And this is a simple matter in the sight of the Lord; He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand. Also you shall attack every fortified city and every choice city, and shall cut down every good tree, and stop up every spring of water, and ruin every good piece of land with stones” (2 Kings 3:16-19 New King James Version).
Verse 20 says in the morning, when the grain offering was offered, suddenly water came by way of Edom, and the land was filled with water. God created water where there was none. There was water everywhere for them and their animals to drink.
God can create sight; He can give sight to those who are blind. He can create health – heal those who are sick. He can create promotion – elevate those He has appointed unto promotion, even if some people think they are not qualified for it. Psalm 75:6-7 says promotion or exaltation does not come from the east, from the west, or the south, but God is the Judge: He puts down one and exalts another.
Have faith in God. He can create what doesn’t currently exist. He is the unlimited God. He revealed himself to Moses as the “I AM WHO I AM” (Exodus 3:14). He is the self-existent and self-sufficient God. He created all things, and because of His will, they were and were created (Revelation 4:11b).
Whatever your current situation, have faith in God. Do all you can do and leave the rest to God. Even if your condition appears hopeless, don’t lose hope. Paul said, “In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us. And you are helping us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety” (2 Corinthians 1:9-11 New Living Translation). I pray that your case will end in thanksgiving.
God can do what no man can do. You may not know how He will do it. He can bring the dead back to life and call into being things that do not even exist. He will do it for you.
TAKE ACTION!
If you are not born again, you need to give your life to Jesus now. Take the following steps: *Admit that you are a sinner, and cannot save yourself, and repent of your sins. *Confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. *Renounce your past way of life – your relationship with the devil and his works. *Invite Jesus into your life. *As a mark of seriousness to mature in the faith, start attending a Bible-believing, Bible-teaching, and Bible-practising church. There, they will teach you how to grow in the Kingdom of God.
Kindly say this prayer now: O Lord God, I come unto You today. I know I am a sinner, and I cannot save myself. I believe Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross to save me, and God raised Him on the third day. I repent of my sins and confess Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I surrender my life to Jesus now and invite Him into my heart. By this prayer, I know I am saved. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me and making me a child of God.
I believe you have said this prayer from your heart. Congratulations! You must join a Bible-believing, Bible-teaching, and Bible-practising church where they will teach you how to live your new life in Christ Jesus. I pray that you flourish like a palm tree and grow like a cedar of Lebanon. May you grow into Christ in all things and become all God wants you to be. I will be glad to hear from you. The Lord be with you.
PRAYER POINTS: Father, I believe You can bring the dead back to life and bring into existence what does not exist; do this miracle in my life. Father, visit all who are in a hopeless situation at the moment and create for them the miracles they need. Change everything in favour of those who have lost hope or people who have given up, so that they will testify to Your surpassing power. Do for them miracles that exceed human comprehension. Thank You, Father.
