TOPIC: GOD WILL CREATE A VACANCY FOR YOU
BY T. O. BANSO
“Then they cast lots, and Matthias was selected to become an apostle with the other eleven” (Acts 1:26 New Living Translation).
God can create a vacancy for you. I don’t know what your expectations are at this time and what you’ve been told. Someone could have said no to you. You could have been told there is no room for you. But God can create a vacancy for you even when it seems impossible. He can make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert (Isaiah 43:19).
I remember a prayer meeting we had and someone in the prayer meeting asked that we pray for a job for him. He told us the nature of the job but remarked that he was already late looking for the job. He said it was not the right time for recruitment. The time for recruitment had passed.
We were just three or four people at the prayer meeting. After listening to his request, I said we should pray that God should create a vacancy for him. From what he had said, it was no longer a matter of whether or not he was qualified. He was late, but God is always on time. He never comes late. Jesus arrived four days after Lazarus had been buried. He appeared to have come late. But He was right on time, not to heal Lazarus, but to bring him back from the dead, which was a greater miracle! (John 11:1-45).
We prayed on the request for a job and the person who made the request was surprised by how God answered. A friend came to visit him and he told the fiend of his decision to look for a job. The friend then informed him of a new vacancy in his place of work where this brother we had prayed for had also worked in the past. Someone just resigned and the vacancy needed to be filled urgently. He advised him to talk to the head of the department informally before applying.
The summary is that he was interviewed in a friendly manner and given the job with honour by the Chief Executive Officer of the organization. God created a vacancy for him at a time he called a wrong time, a time already late. Some indices or factors may not favour you, but God can create a vacancy for you.
It didn’t seem there was a vacancy in the palace for a Queen, but God created a vacancy for Esther! She was an orphan who was raised by her uncle, Mordecai. Her family was carried into captivity in Babylon. The odds were against her, but God created a vacancy for her.
Queen Vashti offended the king and he removed her. Following Esther’s success in the contest to select a new queen, she replaced Vashti. God worked all things together for her good, granting her the favour of the person who prepared all the candidates for the office. He showed Esther preferential treatment (Esther 2:8-18).
When David must have been wondering when he really would become the king long after Samuel had anointed him, king, Saul suddenly died on the battlefield. Prior to that, He had the opportunity twice of killing Saul, but he didn’t (1 Samuel 24:1-22; 26:1-25). God created a vacancy for him eventually by allowing Saul to die (1 Samuel 31:1-6). David became king over his tribe, Judah, and later over the entire nation of Israel. He was actually anointed three times before he became the king of Israel (1 Samuel 16:12-13; 2 Samuel 2:5, 5:3-5).
Judas Iscariot committed suicide after betraying Jesus (Matthew 27:3-5). He must be replaced according to prophecy (Acts 1:20; Psalms 69:25; 109:8). Peter said, “Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection. And they proposed two: Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias” (Acts 1:21-23 New King James Version)
They prayed for God’s guidance to make the right choice between called Barsabas Justus and Matthias, “Then they cast lots, and Matthias was selected to become an apostle with the other eleven” (Acts 1:26 New Living Translation).
Please take note that Mathias had been with Jesus from the beginning, but was not chosen as one of the twelve disciples. But his time came when Judas didn’t keep his place. This may be your own time to fulfill the prophecy upon your life; it may be the time to experience answers to long-time prayers. Daniel said God changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings (Daniel 2:21a). He will create a vacancy for you, even at the top.
Sarah denied laughing at the promise of God of a child in her old age (Genesis 18:12-15). But God fulfilled His Word, creating laughter for her by giving her Isaac (Genesis 21:6). God will create laughter for you this season. He will fill you with laughter, and your tongue with singing; people will celebrate with you for the Lord has done great things for you (Psalm 126:2). Be diligent, faithful, obedient, and patient. God will create a vacancy for you according to His will for your life.
TAKE ACTION!
If you are not born again, you need to give your life to Jesus now. I urge you to take the following steps: *Admit that you are a sinner and you cannot save yourself and repent of your sins. *Confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. *Renounce your past way of life – your relationship with the devil and his works. *Invite Jesus into your life. *As a mark of seriousness to mature in the faith, start attending a Bible-believing and Bible-teaching church. There they will teach you how to grow in the Kingdom of God.
Kindly say this prayer now: O Lord God, I come unto You today. I know I am a sinner and I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross to save me and God raised Him on the third day. I repent of my sins and confess Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I surrender my life to Jesus now and invite Him into my heart. By this prayer, I know I am saved. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me and making me a child of God.
I believe you have said this prayer from your heart. Congratulations! You will need to join a Bible-believing and Bible-teaching church in your area where they will teach you how to live your new life in Christ Jesus. I pray that you flourish like a palm tree and grow like a cedar of Lebanon. May you grow into Christ in all things and become all God wants you to be. I will be glad to hear from you. The Lord be with you.
PRAYER POINTS:  Father, create a vacancy for me in line with the next phase of Your plan for my life. Every hindrance to my open door is removed in Jesus’ name. The change that will create a vacancy for me, Father, let it happen. Create laughter for me; do in my life what will make me laugh. Fill my mouth with laughter and my tongue with singing.
